Services offered by CELT

Face-to-face course or workshop
Each of our workshops has been retooled for both content and format to insure that we are not only providing you with the tips and tools for course transformation, but also employing those tips and techniques at every turn.
Faculty Learning Community
First, a definition: A Faculty Learning Community is a group of campus educators engaging in an active, collaborative, “community of learning” focused on enhancing teaching and learning. FLCs can provide not only an opportunity for professional development and research, but a much-needed opportunity for campus community building. FLCs can either be cohort based or topic based and can be an excellent method for campus educators to investigate a topic of interest, implement course transformation, assess the results with the resulting outcome of adopting and endorsing new pedagogical strategies. Taken from a Scholarship of Teaching & Learning perspective, a participant may select a focus course or project to try out innovations, assess resulting student learning, and prepare a course or project mini-portfolio to show the results and present project results to the campus and at national conferences.
Brown Bag
Sometimes, an informal, conversational environment is the best way to capture a teachable moment. CELT is continually gathering feedback – either through assessment efforts, conversations, email exchanges and/or day-do-day interactions. Mindful of serving up the information that people want to hear more about, we will be using the brown bag model for presenting information on a wide range of teaching and learning tips, topics strategies or just general information.
Interested in a particular topic that might be good for a brown bag? Interested in presenting? We’d love to hear from you.
Consultation
Need something a little more one-on-one? The CELT team has distributed workload based around college. Your first point of contact will be your college rep. From there, you’ll be free to share your interest, need, concern or idea. Although we may not have the answer for you right then and there, keep in mind that we are in the learning business too and will be happy to do the research to get you to the answer you need.

Online course or workshop
Usually, we think of online and hybrid courses from the perspective of student offerings. However, these can be an excellent way for faculty to engage the learning process themselves, while also familiarizing themselves with how effective online learning can be. Self-paced or a-synchronous learning experiences are unique in that along with providing yet another model for learning opportunities, there are other inherent benefits ranging from parking and scheduling to writing skills and real-time assessment.
If you are interested in having a topic presented in an online format (as opposed to face-to-face) let us know – we are very interesting in showing you how effective the online environment can be!
